Error mssg.
 

I have downloaded a website builder on my Windows 98 computer and I am
getting the error mssg. "Application or DLL can not be loaded on Windows 95
or 3.1. It takes advantage of unicode features only available on Windows NT".
Is there a fix or workaround I can download to resolve this problem?

You can try to install the unicows.dll into the folder for the application.
The unicows {unicode] installer can still be found on Microsoft or on the
Internet.

What application are you referring to?

That message seems to indicate that the W98 system has never been upgraded
for Unicode support. It is surprising that this is the first application
installed that requires it. See:

and for developers:
http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/h..._announce.mspx

You need the run-time component or redistributable. That's the title used on
the above page, but the description only details the developer components.
The redistributable may be available separately, but it should(!) also be
part of the developer download on that page. Otherwise, use the keywords at
that site to google for it.

Oh, forgot to advise you likely have unicows already in your system, though
in separate folders in Program Files, such as Windows Media Player, MSWorks,
Sun JAVA, CCleaner or others. Do a find on your Program Files folder and
copy the newest version to the applications folder.

Unicows/unicode was not recommended at installation [the package] in Win98
as it is not updated and unsupported, whereas the individual file
installation PER APPLICATION keeps it safe and within that program's control
rather than system wide.
