ME cmdninst hangs during a restart after installong new hardware
 

I have a Dell Dimension 8100 with Windows ME. I tried separately at
different times to install a new DVD burner and a new network card.
After I install the new device, the PC hangs on a restart. When I do
CTL + ALT + Delete, the Close dialogue box shows two instances
of the cmdninst module with a Not Responding appended to the first.
When I remove the new hardware, I have no problem restarting. I have
seen many problems about cmdninst mentioned in this news group but
have seen a solution. Does any one know of a solution? Thanks.
