.Ink extensions

Somehow my all my files and apps have been given .Ink
extensions.

All the icons have become blank and none of the files or
apps will open.

Even the "Open With..." dialogue box dosen't work.

Neither do the items in "Control Panel" or Tweak UI

I have OS Win 98 SE and Broadband connection.

Also McAfee and Zone Alarm Pro, both up to date.

It seems to have happened sometime after I ran Ad-Aware?

I saw an article about the problem on Handheld computers
but I've never had one or conected one to my PC.

Any suggestions please.

Thanks

Every file has been give a .Lnk extension (notice spelling) or is it just
the shortcuts that have it? If just the shortcuts, what happens when you
click directly on an .exe file (say, explorer.exe)? What happens with Open
With? What happens when you boot? Just saying something doesn't work is
not helpful--saying what it does do may be helpful.
