How to check why I lost the Internet? Is my PC a Zambie?

I have 3 PC connected by wire to a Netgear wireless router WGR614 and
one connected by Wi-Fi.
Some time ago I lost the Internet connection on 1 PC, but I found it
was related to ZoneAlarm and Ms Security update for Windows KB951748.
I fixed this problem, but now I have problems with another PC.
I am sure it is not a wire problem - when I remove a wire from not
working PC and connect it to my laptop - I have the Internet. When I
disconnect the cable from PC and issue IPCONFIG command - I see a
message "Media Disconnected". When the wire (from the router) is
connected back to the PC IPCONFIG shows:
"ipaddress 192.168.1.3 default gateway 192.168.1.1 - and I can ping
between computers.
When I try to access the Internet I see on the bottom of the browser
"connecting to...", "wating for....". tranferring...
and sometimes I am getting a partial screen, but after a long wait.
The Status of network shows about 5k bytes sent, about 20k bytes
received.
Any idea what it is?
Is it possible that my PC became a Zambie controlled by some hacker?

Thanks,

Zalek

Possible.

It's more probable you either have dying hardware or you should uninstall
the network card driver and install the latest version from the hardware
manufacturer web page.

Beyond that - if you are paranoid over it all - run SuperAntiSpyware and
update/full scan with the AV of your choice. If still paranoid - back it up
(imaging preferred for least loss) and format it/install fresh.

Why are you crossposting to Windows Update and WinME Networking newsgroup?
