Old Installed Program List Appears in Add/Remove Programs

A few days ago I was using Quicken when it suddenly closed with an error. At
that time I discovered that my Norton Anti-Virus no longer loaded. When I
went to reinstall, I was told that a "newer" version was on my computer
(probably the installed version plus updates), and I would need to delete it
before I could reinstall. I went to Control Panel, and the list of installed
programs I recognized from a couple months ago! Argh!

I'm not missing any data files, but I've also noticed that some the Document
menus that pop-up from the Start button also have an order from a couple
months ago.

A couple times I even re-checked the date to see if I wasn't in a time warp
or something! :-))

What can I do?

You could start by running System Restore and rolling back "A few days ago"
plus one!!

See if that corrects your missing items (in Control Panel?) and Document
order menus are restored. - You can always undo the System Restore (Undo my
last restoration) if your not happy.
