"View Files" shows Search Results instead of TIF folder
I upgraded from IE5.5 SP2 to IE6 SP1 in the spring of 2003. At that
time, I asked this question but none of the suggestions worked. I thought I'd try again now because I recently discovered a similar problem that seems related somehow. When I upgraded to IE6 SP1, a strange thing started happening. When I right-click on the IE icon on my desktop, choose Properties and then choose Settings | View Files on the General tab, a Search Results window opens instead of my Temporary Internet Files folder. (In IE itself, when I choose Tools | Internet Options | General | Settings | View Files, the Temporary Internet Files folder is correctly displayed.) I have since discovered that, when I left-click on a Desktop or Quick Launch shortcut for a program, choose Properties, and then click on Find Target on the Properties box, a Search Results window opens instead of the folder in which the program executed by the shortcut resides. Back in May 2003, the following did not fix the IE6 problem: - IE6 Repair - Deleting IE's cache using deltree in DOS - scanreg /opt /fix Is there anyone who has seen this and/or knows how to fix this problem? Thanks, Nevans |

Thanks, Nevans edited text to say "right-click on a Desktop or Quick Launch shortcut" (I have my mouse set so I can use it with my left hand -- No, I'm not left-handed but find it's easier to work with it that way -- so for me, a "right click" is actually a "left click"!) |
