floppy disc return factory settings

Hi,

I formatted a floppy disc.
It was already empty.
Is there a way to unformat, return factory settings, make completely empty?

Thanks

If it was NOT a quick, but a FULL format (with no disk label entered: this
label is the only non-standard thing then, what will remain after formatting)
-- this floppy is emptied completely, as if it is a formatted disk from the
factory. All the data on it is lost forever: all the bytes of the information,
that was at the floppy before formatting, are replaced with the standard hex
value 0xF6.

Unlike if you format a HDD: in case of HDD you can unformat the drive, and
recover (at least -- partially) the information, that was there before
formatting.

The factory settings was probably a standard format, but I assume you mean
that you want to remove the formatting you did. This shouldn't be necessary,
so you might like to explain why you want to do this.

Search the www for a floppy disk diagnostic utility and use the destructive
scan option. That will write data patterns across the whole disk, ignoring
any format information. However, it preserves the sector identifiers.

If that's not enough, get a strong magnet and wipe it back and forth across
the disk a few times. This is as close as you'll get to a clean disk.
