No internet connection

Hi.
I have cable internet connection but I can't get online
via ethernet card because windows doesn't allow to pick up
my provider's ip.When I try to renew 169 ip
autogonfiguration address in ip configuration window the
system gives me an error "DHCP Server Unavailable Renewing
adapter".I contacted my internet provider techsupport and
they told me that this is a windows issue and that
something needs to be reinstall. So my question is - what
exactly needs to be done in order to fix this problem?
Thanx.

Start
run
WinIpcfg
scroll down dropdown list of Ethernet adapters till you find the one
connected to your cable modem (you may have only one I have two ethernet
adapters on board)
release all
renew all
OK

may help
