ATI Rage IIC - How do I get VGA to SVGA
Hello,
I am restoring a PC for a friend. It is an older NEC 350 mhz pentium II. I blew away the old Win98 and reinstalled it (Win98). The problem I now have is that it comes up VGA mode. How do I get it to come up SVGA ? It has an ATI Rage IIC graphics card. Do I need some drivers ? Where would I find them ? I am guessing they should be on the Win98 Install CD. If so, how do I extract them ? It's been years since I've messed with this type stuff. Help! advTHANKSance = Me = |

http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/9...gacy-98me.html Thank you for your pointer. I had been there due to previous entries, but the drivers pack was 3.5 mb size and I had expected to xfer it to my friends machine via floppy. Hmmm .. I imagined that there might be a single dll or similar file to utilize. I burned it to CD instead, used it to xfer the file. Bing bang boom. SVGA. I wish it had been a rewritable CD, ... but at least we got it done ... right ..! Thanks again for your help, = Me = |

Basic, minimum required drivers are typically a small set of files, easily
placed on a floppy. The package you get from ATI includes the basic drivers, but also includes fancy management software, lots of configuration utilities, etc. If you only installed the basic drivers, you'd depend on Windows files and utilities to do those other more complicated tasks. -- Gary S.
