How do I Create Multiple Drivers for a Printer
I have a printer that does n-up printing. Selecting the feature requires
several keystrokes or mouse clicks in the printer properties page. I would like to set up different printer drivers for my printer, one for 1- up, one for 2-up and one for 4-up. To print 4-up, I could simply select that printer in the print dialog box. However, in the printer control panel, you can't copy a printer. When I select a printer, those options are grayed out on the edit menu. Copy is not an option on the right click context menu. When I try the add printer wizard, it asks if I want to replace an existing driver. I tried renaming my first definition, but that made no difference in the wizard. It told me I was replacing a driver. I don't see why Windows would object to duplicate printer drivers. |
You install multiple versions of the same printer by repeating the install
procedure. Perhaps you told the printer wizard to automatically detect and install..." In that case, Windows knows there is already a printer driver installed for the existing printer and offers to replace it. Instead, you should add a new printer. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (Windows - Shell/User) "o robinson via WindowsKB.com" wrote in message m... I have a printer that does n-up printing.
