Mswrd832.cnv Error
You are trying to open a document that was created with a late version of Word. Wordpad is not a suitable program for opening such files. You may get a bit more information he WD2000: Problems Opening Word Document in WordPad http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;276337 If you need a viewer try he http://office.microsoft.com/download...wd97vwr32.aspx ....Alan -- Alan Edwards, MS MVP Windows -Internet Explorer http://dts-l.org/index.htm On 19 Apr 2007 05:38:15 -0700, in microsoft.public.win98.apps, nucleus wrote: i am trying to open a recent wordpad document on a public website and am getting the error: "wordpad caused an invalid page fault in module mswrd832.cnv" my version of wordpad is "windows 98" and apparently the public document is a later version. how do i make this work? Download the document to your PC before trying to open it. Instead of
left-clicking the document to open it, right-click the document and choose Save Target As. Then start the viewer application, and use the File / Open menu option to open the file you downloaded. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (Windows - Shell/User) "nucleus" wrote in message oups.com... tried those, they don't help. i have no control over the document on such websites, the only option i'm given, is to click on the wordpad document. any other suggestions??? |

Did you download the viewer Alan recommended? After that viewer is
downloaded and installed, start it, and use the file / open menu options to access the document you downloaded. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (Windows - Shell/User) "nucleus" wrote in message oups.com... thanks for your reply. tried your suggestion. right clicked and chose "save target as" file.doc then, in windows explorer, left clicked on the file, all that was saved was a blank wordpad document with the rectangular error message "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. Sorry for the delay, but Jeff's reply should have helped.
You don't have to have control of the document on web sites. You only need to control the application that opens .doc files and if you download the suggested application and install it, it will open .doc files for you. ....Alan -- Alan Edwards, MS MVP Windows - Internet Explorer http://dts-l.org/index.htm On 20 Apr 2007 16:56:34 -0700, in microsoft.public.win98.apps, nucleus wrote: tried those, they don't help. i have no control over the document on such websites, the only option i'm given, is to click on the wordpad document. any other suggestions??? thanks for your replies.
when i go to the ws alan suggested: http://office.microsoft.com/download...wd97vwr32.aspx i get the message "The download you requested is unavailable. If you continue to see this message when trying to access this download, go to the "Search for a Download" area on the Download Center home page. " possibly because the computer is running W98SE and alan's suggestion is for W2K. On Apr 21, 8:28 pm, "Jeff Richards" wrote: Did you download the viewer Alan recommended? My suggestion had nothing to do with W2K and I don't know where you
got that idea. I see the viewer I mentioned has been replaced. Try: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en or http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/B...n&categoryid=9 ....Alan -- Alan Edwards, MS MVP Windows - Internet Explorer http://dts-l.org/index.htm On 22 Apr 2007 15:59:46 -0700, in microsoft.public.win98.apps, nucleus wrote: thanks for your replies. when i go to the ws alan suggested: http://office.microsoft.com/download...wd97vwr32.aspx i get the message "The download you requested is unavailable. Hi Alan,
Word Viewer 97 is no longer available from Microsoft, having been replaced by Word Viewer 2003 (per your link below), which will not install on a Win98 system, only Win2k/XP. I did find Word Viewer 97 he http://www.5star-shareware.com/Windo...rd-viewer.html and he http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/fil...scription.html Direct download: http://downloads.pcworld.com/pub/new...g/wordview.exe -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+ http://dts-l.org/ http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Alan Edwards" wrote in message ...
