Until MSFN.ORG comes back up (it seems pretty mortally wounded for the
past few days) I hereby deem that this Usenet Newsgroup
(microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion) is to be used as a place where
former MSFN users can regroup and continue discussions regarding windows
98 matters.

Any Questions?

What were we doing before?
Scaring them away?

Any Questions?

As an avoider of most web forums, I was going to ask what MSFN
is/was. I ended up viewing the WayBack Machine archive, looks
like a general Windows discussion forum.

Like it or not (and I don't particularly like it), the readers of this
win-98 usenet newsgroup might not be aware that just based on
participation, the win-9x/me forum on msfn.org is a much more active
place where win-98 issues and questions get resolved and new
advancements in making things work under win-98 happens.

I feel they pay a heavy price - censorship and nazi-style moderation
(based on people on ego-boosting power-trips) is the rule of the day on
MSFN.

Very strange to not even see any mention of MSFN website problems on
their twitter page.

I hope that the Win-98 refugees from MSFN, who are now all floating
around in the sea, eventually discover this usenet newsgroup and we can
re-establish a functional and more open collective forum here that can't
be censored or moderated.

If this was a permanent end to MSFN, then eventually anyone that was
sufficiently motivated to find active win-98 forums would more than
likely discover this usenet group - possibly by stumbling across the
group as it exists on various new-to-web leeching sites (like
computerbanter or google groups).

... but I see you're just hoping. I join you in that (-:

Yea, well it seems that after being down for most of the past week, it
is back up as of yesterday afternoon, with a few days worth of posts
missing.

Are you the same "dan" that used to post here 3 years ago (May/June/July

People can respond the way they want to. Sometimes it seems more prudent to
top post; sometimes to bottom post; and sometimes to inline post. It all
depends, and flexibility is the key for those who are enlightened.

And yes, I'm quite aware of the so called "usenet rules" (cough).
But heaven forbid, I've been known to jay walk, too. For shame!
Some people beat to their own drummer, and we should be grateful for that.
