ScanDisk & Defrag problems
I used Vcom System 5 and scanned and defraged from there.
It took several hours. But now my system works and the Windows-based scan and defrag work. If one of these other ideas worked as well, please repost. This is a very frustrating problem. Thanks for posting - anonymous because I don't need penile implants -----Original Message----- Hi all, My problem concerns ScanDisk in Windows 98. Every time I try to perform a Thorough (performs Standard test and scans disk surface for errors); ScanDisk starts to scan and then after a while I get a message saying something like: "ScanDisk has restarted 10 times because there is another program running in the background. Please shut down this other program..." It even does the same thing in Safe Mode, where hitting ctrl+al+del reveals that the only thing running is Explorer! I tried to defrag my hard drive last night and a short way into the defrag process but the defrag wouldn't complete & gave me a message saying "There is an error on your C: drive. Run ScanDisk to fix the problem, then run Defrag again." So I run ScanDisk and I'm back to square one (the original error message I described earlier). I can't defrag my hard drive and I can't scan my hard drive for errors w/ScanDisk - what can I do about this? Can anyone please help me solve this problem? Thanks, Kingy75 . |
