I have a 98 computer and it is kind of slow. Will an upgrade to XP help? I
know that XP CLAIMS to make a computer faster, but will it work?

No, it will make it even slower! If the computer is of Windows 98 era
it will probably run like a turtle if you try to run XP on it!

Well, I had another computer that was 98 and I installed 2000, then XP and it
seemed to be ok.

Every successive version of Windows needs a bigger, faster and better
computer to run as quickly as it's predecessor. If your computer is
sluggish and slow running Windows 98 it will not be faster running XP,
it will be slower because the system requirements for XP are higher than
for Windows 98. The difference might not be as pronounced between
Windows 2000 and Windows 98 because those two operating systems were
released relatively closely to each other date wise.

There's no decent way to answer that question without knowing how fast your
system is and how much RAM it has. Should be able to find those figures in
System Properties. (Right-click My Computer, then Properties.)

Are you talking 98 or 98 SE Computer? In any case, you can't have more
than 1 GB of memory total, including Graphics, if you need to access Safe
Mode in the future.

You can run Windows 98 SE with an Intel Pentium D Processor (Duo
Processor), as long as the total memory does not exceed 1 GB of Phyiscal Ram
installed.
