Laptop disk disaster
My daughter has a problem with her laptop which holds all her exam course
work. I have removed the HDD (Hitachi TravelStar HTS424040msat00) and bought a 2.5 to 3.5 ATA to IDE convertor and put the TravelStar (NTFS type disk) in an old HP Vectra running W98. This has a CD so I removed the CD IDE Cable and put the convertor on it and attached the power. On bootup the BIOS shows the new laptop hard drive as Secondary Master and shows its model type but Windows98 can't see it. What must I do to get her course work off the old disk and onto somewhere where it can be printed. Many thanks, Neal T |

windows98 cannot read ntfs
either put the drive in a nt win2000 or xp system, or install one of the ntfs reader software in the win98 pc, like DiskInternals NTFS reader http://diskinternals.com/products/ntfs-reader/ I have no idea how good the ntfs drivers are -- - Adaware http://www.lavasoft.de spybot http://security.kolla.de AVG free antivirus http://www.grisoft.com Etrust/Vet/CA.online Antivirus scan http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx Panda online AntiVirus scan http://www.activescan.com Panda online AntiSpyware Scan http://www.pandasoftware.com/virus_info/spyware/test/ Catalog of removal tools (1) http://www.pandasoftware.com/download/utilities/ Catalog of removal tools (2) http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/n...aspx?CID=40387 Trouble Shooting guide to Windows http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/ Blocking Unwanted Parasites with a Hosts file http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm links provided as a courtesy, read all instructions on the pages before use Grateful thanks to the authors/webmasters _ "OUTLOOK TEST" wrote in message ... W98 cannot see NTFS partitions. You can get a driver that will allow you to
