Threat by mystery file

A couple of spyware searches indicated that the follow file with a font
extension is a severe threat. It shows the location as
C/windows/fonts/acrsecI.fon. I have been unable to locate such a file so I
can remove it. None of the fonts show up with this name. I haven't
registered the spyware remover so I can't ask the program to remove this
supposed threat. Are there files that are hidden? Have you ever heard of
this file. It shows the item as Kazaa, which I don't run on my computer.
Thanks. Ron

The un-named removal tool that give such response should be avoided, pay for
play is not necessary
Many of the most highly recommended Anti Malware applications have always
been free.
"TopSearch" , the usual source of that file is easily removed

I agree with AlmostBob. The so-called removal tool is playing the game of "finding"
non-existent threats to get you to buy it, for removal. Once you pay them money,
the tool will claim the threat has been removed, when it was in fact never there.

What is the name of the so-called "remover"?

The file named, acrsecI.fon, would be part of TopSearch adware.
You can look at this info to determine if you really have it, and how to remove it
correctly:

AlmostBob, Glee,
Thanks for your help. I suspected this method of encouraging purchase.
In this case, NoAdware and XoftSpy both came up with this file as a threat.
Spybot and Ad-Aware did not show such a file. My computer is working fine
so I'm not worried.
The resources that you supplied are great and will be referred to when needed.
I've used Ad-Aware before. Unfortunately I stopped using it because it
freezes up my computer part way through the scan, especiallywhen I do a full
scan.
Thanks again

Glee, I sent a reply to you and AlmostBob. It will be on the thread. The
"reply" seems to only be directed to the person above the reply button.
Thanks for your help. Ron

If Ad-Aware is freezing part way through its scan, try running it in Safe Mode
instead:
- Start the computer and hold down the CTRL key till the Windows 98 Startup menu
(boot menu) appears.
OR
- Repeatedly tap the F8 key after the memory count to bring up the boot menu.
- Use the arrow keys to select "Safe Mode" and press Enter.
