Cause of VxD fatal exception?
Group, I have been unable to find info on the Microsoft
support website or searching the web concerning the following virtual driver fatal exception shown below: "A fatal exception 0E has occurred at 0028:xxxxxxxx in VxD PALE(01) + 00001EF4" (xxxx=various hex codes) My machine is an AMD K6 approx 900mhz running MS Windows 98 original (not SE). The machine runs fine for awhile but I'm frequently, though randomly, getting the blue screen fatal exception mentioned above usually followed by various 0D fatal exceptions as well. In some cases, I can continue working but usually have to reboot. It is possible that this is being caused by residual spyware trash which I've recently removed via tools such as SpyBot S&D, Ad-Aware, etc. All spyware remover & antivirus (Norton) scans are coming back clean but the PALE(01) blue- screen of deaths keep occurring! Any info, suggestions, references, or help in resolving this situation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |
