setup message
 
When I install windows 98 se on this compaq deskpro en system, I get the
following message after the installation finishes installing and the system
restarts.

standard mode:fault outside of ms-dos extended
ec=0000 cs=0367 ip=74d0 ax=0000 bx=0367 cx=ffb1 dx=0367
si=2aba di=721d bp=0fp0 ds=036f es=035f ss=027f sp=0f94

What does this mean and how do I work aound it?

If that's extender, see this MS article:

The causes are the same as those for the "Fault in MS-DOS Extender"
error in the article.

I would check the config.sys file for an error and also run an up to
date Anti-virus scan. If no help then boot to the BIOS and see if
all is ok there.
