how can I determine the manufacturer of my cd-rom drive?

Take a look in device manager under CD-ROM.
If not there you may have to look at the drive. wrote in message ... how can I determine the manufacturer of my cd-rom drive? |

I have no idea where your drive manufacturer may have put the name and model
on your drive. You may have to 'get at the drive' to see. Seems a bit odd that you have to know that. wrote in message ... -----Original Message----- Take a look in device manager under CD-ROM. Seems a bit odd that you have to know that. My computer is not recognizing the drive. So I was going to go to the manufacturers web site and download the driver for it but I do not know who the manufacturer is. wrote in message ... -----Original Message----- Take a look in device manager under CD-ROM. You should not have to download a driver for an EIDE drive for operation
under Windows. Does the BIOS see the drive when you boot? If not: Check wiring, jumpers (Master/Slave/CS) as appropriate. Why do you think the secondary channel was disabled ? wrote in message ... -----Original Message----- I have no idea where your drive manufacturer may have put the name and model on your drive. My employer probably had it disabled on purpose. wrote in message ... -----Original Message----- I have no idea where your drive manufacturer may have put the name and model on your drive. You went out of your way to hide the response which I've separated below.
Some employers disable an ability to use external media to avoid many problems in an environment that the IT has little control like Win9X. wrote in message ... -----Original Message----- You should not have to download a driver for an EIDE drive for operation under Windows.
