Displaying process memory

Needed, a display listing W98SE running processes and the actual memory
usage for each, in real time.

This seems easy, but I have tried various versions of Process Explorer, all
display memory in default settings in W2K, not one of them display memory
in W98SE. I know memory display is not inhibited, as Aida system analysis
utility shows memory after digging through several screens, Memload does
the same after several selections.

I'm looking for a small freeware no-install utility that when opened,
directly displays process and memory as above, no extra screens to get to
the display.

In the past years when I used W98SE, I don't recall this being an issue,
but now, in a very basic OS installation, I can't get this display.

There is no such utility because:
1. Memory usage varies with data file size as well
as application size. A 10-minute MP3 requires
more memory than a 5-minute MP3.
2. Windows is set up to handle memory needs
automatically via the swap file i.e. "Virtual Memory."
Use of the swap file varies inversely with the
availability of RAM (chip) memory.

Don, I understand about usage of memory. My question is about displaying
the memory used, whatever it is.

As I mentioned, several utilities do show the data indirectly. There must
be a simple utility that displays it directly.

Start Settings Control Panel Add/Remove Programs Windows Setup tab System
Tools.

Scroll down to and double click System Tools.
Scroll down and click the checkbox next to System Monitor to select it.
Click Ok Apply Ok.
If asked for the Win98 disk, use the Browse button to navigate to the directory
where the Win98 folder from the 98 inst disk is copied.
