Freezes on Windows ME screen--HELP!
 

Recently my Toshiba Satellite laptop has not been working
consistently. Whenever I switch it on it boots up to the
Windows ME screen and then freezes indefinitely. I have
to then switch off the computer and then it restarts in
Safe Mode. Any suggestions as to what the problem may
be? I have heard that there may be a patch to fix this.
Could I download a patch to disk and then install it in
Safe Mode? Any help is much appreciated...

When you get the text-mode menu, select "Logged Boot". The file created,
c:\bootlog.txt, may help you determine where the problem lies.

Something to try first though is booting from a WinME floppy disk and
running a registry fix:

SCANREG /FIX
