Defragmentation. by
Rod
I am aware I can defragment in safe mode,
just curious as to why suddenly, after 5 years,
my defrag is doing what others have experienced,
and aborting half way through and starting again?
I always use "end it all" with av shut down.
any ideas?
Thank you very much.

USB 3 in 2008 by
Dan
It appears that computer users will have USB 3 in 2008 and according to this
article it will be backwards compatible with USB 2. It will be interesting
to see what the future holds for computing and technology in general.

What is Firewire for? by
[email protected]
I have been looking to buy a USB 2.0 card, and was looking online to
see what's available. I noticed one card that has both USB and
FIREWIRE. What is the purpose of Firewire? Or maybe I should ask
what it's used for.
I also noticed some ads saying that it can use up to 127 USB devices.
I see...

DOS window problem by
[email protected]
Recently when I end some programs running in a DOS window, the window
size reduces to slightly larger than a postage stamp.
I have been running these programs for years without that happening.
I can't find any setting that would correct this.
Has anybody encountered this problem?
Thanks...

Autorun.ini security hole by

The Windows Secrets site has article about how to prevent
systems from executing autorun.ini files on removable media.
http://windowssecrets.com/comp/071108
It sounds like a significant hole to me. I am surprised that
this hasn't come up long ago.
The article refers to XP and Vista only. ...
