How to Remove a SYSTEM FOLDER by
Fred S
Hi folks,
Still working on a friend's PC and found that he had a few corrupted
files on his system. One of the files was for PAGIS PRO 3.
I could not remove the program from the Add/Remove list, so decided to
go into the registry and remove everything from there - that was brutal
but finally got...

office toolbar by
sf
I wanted to change a game icon to something more clear, so I
found a gif I liked and saved it as an .ico. I changed the
icon via right click Properties, but now I have now a
speech balloon with a ? in it.
What happened?
BTW: If I wanted text instead of an image, how would I do
that?

time out in 98? by
SPL
We use 98 for our business computer, along with a TCP IP emulation to get to
our Unix server. If we are inactive for a few minutes, we need to log in
again. However, using XP at home, this is not the case at all. Is there a
time out feature in 98 that can be turned off.
I already have disabled...

How to determine a Missing ActiveX control by
Bill
I've got a problem with a Windows98SE system that had it's Windows directory
restored from backup. I'm seeing problems that I think are consistent with a
missing ActiveX control. Office detect & repair & IE6 detect & repair don't
fix the problem. I've thoroughly scanned for viruses & spyware.
Now,...

A couple of days back, I posted links to my two articles on Clean Boot and

the Security article just now, among some minor typos I discovered a more
serious error--I wrote that the eTrust EZ Armor annual renewal costs...

Two Iexplore instances running. by
ACTD_Corjet
Hello,
I've found two instances of "Iexplorer" when I was trying to shut
down a program that wasn't responding. I've tried to close one, and then the
other, and I can't seem to close either of them... This seems to be 'not
good' in my estimation as there shouldn't be anything running. I've...

New IE Exploit by
Gary S. Terhune
This one is brand new, and MS is probably only just looking at it now. Note that
although the current discussions center on Windows XP SP2 and/or Internet
Explorer 6 SP2, it would seem to me that *any* version of IE is similarly
vulnerable.
A temporary workaround is easy, though, provided you...
