cd rom is not accessable by Sarge
I have an S-1675CDS laptop that's fairly old. I can read any cd that is created by a professional company but cannot read a cd that is created by me or anyone that sends a cd to me. I get the error: "D: is not accessable. The device is not ready" what is happening? Any help is appreciated.

FREE alternative to Ghost for emergency backup of a dying Win98 HD incase it dies before I can get a replacement? by SlickRCBD[_3_]
The hard drive in my Windows 98SE computer is failing. It's not always readable when I turn on the computer and makes some odd clicking noises, yet turning the computer off, and then on again seems to fix the problem, although last time it took 3 tries. I intend to replace the HD ASAP, however, it...

procedure for copying EVERYTHING (including Windows) for a HDupgrade by SlickRCBD[_3_]
I feel dumb asking this, but I haven't done a hard drive upgrade on a Windows 98 system in a LONG time. I remember that like MS-DOS, it was possible to simply install the new C drive as a D drive and copy everything from the C drive to the D, then change the jumpers so the new drive is now a master...

What happens if I use an ATA-33 cable on an ATA-66 ulta system by SlickRCBD[_3_]
This might not be the right forum, as this is more of an eIDE question than a Windows one, but I wasn't 100 percent sure that the problem was the hard drive, but it might have been the cable or worse the port. I got a "new" drive and a "new" cable from a friend who has several dead computers that...

Preserving the dates on folders (and files) when copying from anetwork share by SlickRCBD[_3_]
A while ago I backed up my Win98SE computer's hard drive to a virtual machine virutal disk drive. When I tried to copy everything back, the dates on the various folders were not preserved no matter what I did. Nor were the file dates preserved. Now that Windows is up and running after swapping...

What other brands of flash drives can I use with Win98 besidesSanDisk Cruzer? by SlickRCBD[_3_]
I feel so limited only being able to buy SanDisk Cruzer flash drives because they are the only one I know of that will work with my old Windows 98SE computer. What other brand of thumb drives can I buy and where can I obtain the drivers to use them?

Where to download msundel? by SlickRCBD[_3_]
I accidentally deleted something I shouldn't and emptied the recycle bin. Back in MS-DOS 6.2.2 there was an undelete command, and searching indicates that Windows 98 should have such a thing available as well or downloadable from Microsoft, but I can't find it on my system. I thought it wasn't...
