proteanthread
What is the maximum hard drive size WinME can handle without
partitioning? What's the maximum amount of memory that I can install
in WinME?

Time for a new operating system?? by
[email protected]
I used winme just until a little after they stopped offering support
and they admitted, at the very end, that it was a dud that cannot be
secured. I found windows2000 that I like and is supported but how
about trying Linux and give up the spyware virus magnet, especially on
a system that cannot...

Rhyme but no Reason to System Restore points deletion by
Bob[_3_]
'opefully there is still time for me to learn to control our WinMe
computer. I've noticed since I got to messing around with it, that
System Restore points dissappearing for no reason I was aware of. I
don't run some of the Disk Cleaning Utilities nearly as much as I used
to. I used to Defragment...

Hibernate & Garbage Collection & Finer Points by
Bob[_3_]
My oh my, the activity on this group seems to be getting thin like my
hair...
When you "hibernate" primarily for garbage collection ( the analog to
memory as scandisk is for disk), one would rather not have their
system take a nap. One just wants ME to clean up its used-memory and
unused memory...

Is there a way to run scandisk @ startup before the Windows GUI is
loaded (like in Windows 95 or 98)?

Network issue by
Tymauk
Hi
I have a problem with an old laptop that I want to set up with my wireless
broadband connection.
The problem that I have (I think) is that I am missing 'My network Places'
and also missing the IEEE802.1x network protocol.
The wireless USB adapter is a brand new Safecom one and works fine on...

ME RIP by
stat monkey
Quicken, TaxCut, TurboTax, McAfee renewals are no longer supporting ME
as of later this year.
I am migrating to stay with Qucken and TaxCut.
But I wonder what the alternatives are?
Avast has a free virus scan that still runs on ME

CCleaner by
Dapper Dan
The recent thread on the CCleaner update prompted me to look at this utility
again. It has been several years but I seem to recall one of the experts
(Alias or Heirloom??) issuing a caution to use only the CLEANER component
and nothing else.
I have just looked at the utility and it appears to...

In order to run my Medical Dictionary M7 I need the "Microsoft Management
Console 1.1 Setup.
I've never heard of it before and would like to know whether it's compatible
with WinME and, if so, how can it be obtained for download and installation?

Network Printer by
Dapper Dan
I currently have my printer connected as a network printer to a desktop
computer. However to access the network printer from two laptops, I must
leave the desktop on all day. Is there a way that we can access the network
printer with the desktop off......ie connected directly to a router?
