PartitionMagic 8.0 - Error 626 - please help by
98 Guy
I'm copying this to microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion.
For future reference, for questions and issues that touch on windows 98,
I recommend you include that newsgroup, because it's pretty much the
only active win-98 group on usenet these days.

DSL with Win98 Computer by
[email protected]
Hi,
I have dial-up internet access with Verizon, and I once considered
switching to DSL. However, I was told by two different persons that I need
WinXP, etc. because the DSL modem's driver is not compatible with Win98.
Another person told me if I get a "network card", then I can...

I am a very active user of Windows 98se and Lexar's "Jump" USB

I also advise you to ask your question in the win-9x forum on msfn.org.

Was there ever a "comp.os.ms-windows.win98" newsgroup? by
98 Guy
There is a small win-95 hierarchy along the lines of
comp.os.ms-windows.win95.
But there doesn't ever seem to have been comp.os.ms-windows.win98. Does
anyone know why?
I ask because I was looking at this:

Two Windows 98 in the Same Partition by
[email protected]
Hi,
Here I will explain why I have Win98 twice.
After all my applications are installed, and everything is configured
the way I like it, I use the second Windows, with WinZip, to backup the
first and save "WINDOWS.ZIP" and "Program Files.ZIP" to "SYSTEM.SAV"
directory I had created....

Two Windows 98 in the Same Partition by
[email protected]
Hi,
I have been using this "system" for many years with two Windows 98 in
the same partition. "WINDOWS", "WIN-BU", "Program Files" and "PGMS-BU".
I modified MSDOS.SYS by changing "BootGUI=1" to "BootGUI=0" so when
I power up my PC, I am in real Dos mode. I type "WIN" to launch Windows.

I run Teatimer part of Spybot that manually asks me if I want to make
what I think are registry changes. I was trying to make my computer
more secure from some guests that I was going to let use my computer
running windows 98SE. I removed my password from my AOL dialup
connection and passwords on...
