I've set up a peer-to-peer home network via a CAT6 crossover cable, with a
Windows XP machine as the host and a Windows ME machine as the client. After
hours of tweaking, I've finally got everything working, with one exception: I
can't print from the client PC to the printer attached to the host...

work PC. Thjy tell me to run MSTSC on my PC but it does
not have that program.What is the easiest way to obtain
that program w/o damage to my system and then I can
remote connect and just type in my IP address right??

Hi,
I am trying to set up a network with a server and have no clue where to
start. I want a centralised server with around 50 clients. What equipment
do I require and how so I set up? or is this too big of a question for

working fine up until last Wednesday, when I powered it back up and it
didn't want to play.
WAP is a US Robotics USR 012249 connected to a hub.
Internet connectivity is a DSL line connected by USB to a PC running

I have been working on this for days
i have a realtek nic card running dhcp for my ip address.
I get a valid ip, gateway, subnetmask etc each time i boot up,
but cant ping the gateway/dhcp server ( one and the same )
I can see the me machine from the router too, (no ping to test with

Cannot "see" all shared folders by

I am on a LAN network running Client Access. The PC
running ME can "see" some, but not all of the shared
folders on a PC running Win98se when I open My Network
Places.
However, from within Excel or Word, I can "back into"
seeing all of the folders by clicking "open", "My Network
Places" and then...

IP will not renew/reset by

Using WinME on my laptop, the IP address does not renew.
THe laptop connects wirelessly thru a Dlink router. The
router does not change the address when rebooting. I
tried manually removing tcp/ip from the network config
and still no change. I reinstalled the wireless adapter
driver for the laptop...

I used to use a dial in service (Worldnet), but now use
cable internet - no longer need to dial.
For some reason, every time I boot my laptop, it wants
to dial into Worldnet, and wants me to select Connect or
Cancel. I had deleted the DUN connection for Worldnet a

Can't Acess My Network ANYMORE by

I am running a DUAL Boot Dell L1000R W/XP Prof SP1 and WinMe. with two
5 port 3COM Home Connect HUBS connected by a Crossover Cable Win(*'s
are using 3c450 NIC's the others are using other cards.

Problem networking ME to XPProSP3 by

Here's the breakdown.
1 computer running ME. Wired to a Dlink Wireless hub(wireless is for my
laptop).
1 computer running XPPro. Wired to the Dlink hub.
Dlink hub running DHCP
XP and Norton firewall turned OFF.
XP sees the ME computer in Network Places/View workgroup computers, however,
