Cannot find crystal chip by
Buffalo
The "cannot find chrystal chip".... error seems to refer to your soundcard
and probably refers to its DOS mode function.
You will probably have to look up your sound card online and read the
instructions on how to set it up to be used in DOS mode.
The MDAC error:

I don't really understand your question. The number of clicks are different
because they are different steps (steps 3 and 4 are related).

{power Management - Standby by
Don
A window came up say "your computer has had a problem going on standby.
Would you like to set up so your computer never goes on standby?"
I foolishly said yes, thinking I could restore it if necessary.
How can I restore the Standby option in Power Management?

If you are using MSN, uninstall it from Add\Remove Programs, and then reinstall it.
Please note that besides MSN, there are other dialers and connection managers that
can also cause the error....see here for an example -

To cut back on the number of programs starting at boot, check the programs
themselves for an option not to load. You might have to double click an
icon in the tray (others might require a right click) and then look for
preferences or options. If you cannot find an option, look for the program
