Spybot PROBLEMS - Attn Siljaline+ by
Fred S *****
I may have missed it here as I'm normally at the WinXP group but there
is quite an uproar going on over the January Spybot updates.
Apparently the update has caused scan times to double as a minimum for
most users and extend to hours for others.
A quick check at the Spybot website shows that...

problem with scandisk or what? by
Delboy
Yesterday after an apparently normal close down, next time I re started, the
computer went into scandisk "improper shutdown", but with the thorough
option dotted, automatically fix errors ticked and all options greyed. SD
went through about 3/4 of the bars, then checked some 28,600 sectors,...

Looking for Security Software for Win ME by
Lynn Quinlan
Hi there,
My 6-year-old Win ME computer was happily running some ISP supplied AV and
firewall software until the ISP upgraded it to a newer version which is no
longer supported on an ME system. They no longer issue or support the "old"
version as it was with a different company.
So, I'm hunting...

System turned into crap by
Swordlord
Hi there.
My computer just got busted somehow (for lack of a better expression), and I
need some help to get it back on track, if that is even possible.
What happened was that one day I rebooted it a few times in a row, because
the ScanDisk program kept freezing, and when it came back on:
- the...

Uninstalling programs by
Gary Waterbury
I have Windows ME for the last 7+- years. Someone installed
Microsoft Office 2000 on my computer. I would like to uninstall
it properly. Microsoft Office has nice programs, but it is way
too expensive a program for me to keep up with. I have let it just
sit there and ignored it. Now that...

a Tech Question by
shep
Hi,
I was reading up on the difference between BIOS & CMOS, and think I
now how a grip on it, but I am wondering why the cmos/config program
uses ram instead of rom?
Wouldnt this do away with the necessity of the cmos battery?
thanks for any enlightenment.

I see this has been addressed very recently but I've a new twist:

Startup problem by
William B. Lurie
I use XP most of the time, but occasionally I need
to run a program which won't run on XP.....needs
"Old DOS" or equivalent. So I keep ME as the only
partition on a separate drive which I run as a "Slave".
Haven't done it in a while, and today when I direct the
BIOS to boot to that drive, it will...
