im a dj an im trying to put an 80 gig hard drive into my wins98 that already has 2x20 gig hdd,the drive 80 gig has music file already on it but the drive cames from my other computer that has xp an its in the computer now but doesn't see the drive please help me

everytime i use my (D:) cdrom drive it tells me that it is not ready i have checked the ribon i have done a add hardware but when i look in device manager it tells me there is no romdrive but i can put a disk into it and it will attempt to read then stop and tell me not ready again ???? help
