98SE to XP connect - might not have permission to use network reso by

98SE with only floppy disk to copy to - purchased XP with everything BUT a
floppy a week ago! Networked via Crossover CAT 5e, spent over an hour with an
expert at £1.50 per minute to get it working....great, only to find I
couldn't access the files! Phoned again to be told that yes, we do seem...

98SE update killed my network by

For a long time I have had a nice simple wireless network with XP Home on
the main box and Win98 on my laptop.
Upgraded to 98SE on the laptop and have lost my local network to the XP box.
Wireless web TCP/IP works fine.
Neither the XP box or the 98SE box can "see" the other computer on...

This probably has been answered but here goes again.
Trying to fix tonight.
Have three systems here at office, 1x XP(he) and 2x 98se. All three running
through a router to net and an XP server.
The XP can see both 98se fine but the two 98se can't see the XP. The two
98se's can see each other...

Got a strange problem
I can ping another computer plugged into the same hub..but can not ping
anything else..I can only ping other computers plugged into same
hub...outside of hub..it times out...
the other computer pings fine to any where...
it receives ip fine from dhcp..and it can be...

displayed in real time.
Also, is it possible to access the other computer as if you were use remote
assistance.

on the XP machines, you can browse the network and see all the computers in
the workgroup. Within network neighborhood you can click on the server 2003
machine to look at...
