So I reinstalled the "System Tools" option from the windows second edition CD

"..rundll32", but I had seen such errors earlier and they were automatically
fixed upon restarting, so I did not think much of it.. I went ahead...

I have spent hours trying to get the USB ports working, including

Is there anyone using this MB (just bought) with W98SE.
Thanks.

W98SE and USB 2.0 by
TonyK
I've just built a computer for my grandson using a good MB (MSI K8N Neo
V2.0).
Everything is fine apart from the USB Ports. They are shown as OK in Device
Manager and I have successfully loaded the drivers from the drivers CD which
came with the MB.
However there is no re-action when use of either...

Updating Windows 98 by
Herb
My first laptop (bought in 1998 I think) is somewhat underpowered, but
otherwise perfectly functional. My wife uses it occasionally, and I
would like to keep it updated as much as possible, particularly
regarding security.
It has Windows 98 first edition installed. I have the original Windows
98...

Question from a colleague at work.
Her computer came brand new with OEM Win98. It was plugged into the
office network through the router.
About a year ago it needed a new motherboard. When it came back from
the repairshop, it had Win98SE on it. The repair shop did not supply
any back up or...

McAfee VirusScan 9.1 by
Alan
I have a problem with the latest engine ( 5.0.00 ) running on my PC. I have
posted on the McAfee forum but the responses either don't happen or appear
not to address the problem.
I need to check some files/registry entries with others running the same
version because I think McAfee have a problem....

Clean install of W98 with upgrade disk? by
[email protected]
Hi
I'd like to install W98, with a clean install - i.e. format the
hard-disk, then do a full install. Reason for this is that there's an
existing installation of ME, which is either a complete pile of guano
as an OS (as many people have said), or is just so overloaded with
registry entries/broken...

Last week I fooled with my LinkSys LNE100 network card. Now WIN98 (1st
edition) boots very slow. It stays on the blank desktop for over 2
minutes, then the icons start to load and everything goes as normal. I
reinstalled the network card drivers several times, did updated NAV scans,
spyware checks...

My old Windows 98 laptop mentioned in my previous message fails to
recognise my USB stick.
I found the driver at manufacturer's website (http://cnmemory.com), but
the driver installation process (I tried different options) keeps going
round in circles.
Is this a general problem with USB sticks...

Hosts Folder by
Alan
In trying to resolve some problems on my Win 98 SE machine, on more than one
occasion I have been advised to check the contents of the "Hosts" file.
Therein lies the problem, I don't have one! Should there always be a Hosts
file or only in some instances.
Thanks
