Win98 Hangs HARD by
Nip
Within the past two weeks, Win98 hangs or freezes, often
times 6-8 times a day. Win Explorer, Internet Explorer,
Outlook, Word, several other Application programs. I have
not added or modified any programs prior to the "Hanging".
The hang is HARD in that it will NOT respond to
Ctrl+Alt+Del....

Gosh I just solved it.
Somehow the repeat rate for typing got changed.
Sometimes it's the simplest thing that's causing a problem.

installed EZ Armor in place of the Trend Micro Internet Security I'd been
using and was surprised at the number of alarms, not all of which were ISP
pings.

Replace McAfee with an AV that works and re-install the latest version of
spybot, (Not a data file update- version 1.3), and install adaware. hopefully
one will find the dropper that is still on your system

Standby mode trouble by

Using Win98 SE all updates on 256Mb ram. 8Gb HD. gigabyte ga-bx2000 MB with
4440BX agpset.
I no longer want to use the standby mode after this hassle, I just want
things as they were before the following happened.
I tried to shut down into 'standby mode' via START-SHUT DOWN and the machine
hung....
