Hello All,
My old (bit still trusty) Win98se machine has got a quirk I am bothered

Need to remove a bad file association. by
[email protected]
For some reason, VLC adopted the .BIN type file and associated itself
with that extension. Those BIN files are system files and should not be
associated with VLC. Since Win98 has several BIN files, I need to
unassociate that ext. How do I do it?
Clicking on one of them caused a system crash.......

issues with replacement 40 GB hard drive in Win Me by
William Bell
I just replaced an ailing 4 GB HD in my old laptop running Win Me with a
new 40 GB drive. I'm having two issues: 1) Only 7.8 GB is being used of
the 40 GB available (I did select to allow large hard disk support
during Me installation) and 2) Even though I seem to shut down correctly...

Problem with writing/updating to a 32 GB USB stick. by
R.Wieser
Hello all,
I've got a problem with accessing a 32GB FAT32-formatted USB stick.
Although reading from it seems to go fine, either writing big or many files
to it causes the computer to freeze hard (forcing a hard reset). 8GB
sticks have always worked fine (never had or used 16GB sticks).
Does...

How to get back the motherboard beeps ? by
R.Wieser
Hello all,
Years and years ago I think I allowed my soundcard to "take over" the
system-beeps that normally go to the motherboards buzzer, and I would now
like to reverse the setting.
I've got a small program just calling kernel32's "Beep" with different
frequencies, but all I now get is a "ding"...

How was it again that we can stop the splash screen? And you can boot
into DOS without going to windows first. Is it with the win.ini file? It's
been so long I forget.

In which folder are the USB drivers stored in 98se? by

In which folder are the 'INSTALLED' USB drivers stored in 98se?
I got a driver file that is supposed to recognise all flash
drives.(Whether it works is just a matter of trying it). Presently I can
only access a few of these flash drives and they are all 4gb or less. I
want to try this file, but I...

I'm running VLC for XP on Win98se by
[email protected]
This is interesting. I installed VLC 2.0.5 (32 bit) on
Windows 98se, and it works perfectly.
This version is listed for XP and higher. It's not even supposed to work
on Win 2000.
The last version intended for Win98 was ver 1.0.2 from 2009.
I wonder how this can be????
