Three Easy (?) Questions by Bob W
1. Can the floppy disk drive be dropped from a PC and CD drive be used instead? 2. How do you make a startup CD disk? 3. Is the startup disk simply a DOS startup or is it OS sensitive?

compatibility issues with Vista by BobVanS
My customer is starting to upgrade their pc's to Windows Vista. In the past, under XP and using Excel, they provided a tab-delimited file as input to my inkjet system that uses Windows 98. No problem! Now under Vista, using Excel (2007) I can read the file, but it doesn't recognize it as...

Reformatting hard drive by bookworm656
Now that I have all the files I need off the old computer that I've mentioned before, I'd like to reformat the hard drive and install Windows 98SE (I already have the install CD). I might also want to partition it and install 98SE and something else. The only thing I'm worried about is whether or...

Uses for 20G & Up HDDs by Brad
Hi "Lil' Dave", HDDs have many vulnerabilities, therefore I would not trust them for keeping important files or OS backup. The heads are only microns from the surface of the spinning platters. A sudden jolt could cause the head to bounce off the platter surface, or if "writing", overwrite data...

Uses for 20G and Up HDDs by Brad
Hi, The largest HDD I have is 10G, with over 6G free space. I already had to replace a couple HDDs. Anything I want to save, has been "burned" on CD Roms. If your computer is not used for collecting videos or music, or used as a server, why in the world would anyone want a 20G or larger...

Hi, I removed a 750 meg hdd from a computer, which was partitioned into two logical drives (520 meg and 230 meg). I installed it in a 1988 Compaq 386 computer with Dos 6.22. Bios can not "see" above 520 meg, therefore I can not access the 230 meg partition. Is it possible to use an "overlay" ...
