Gateway PC fires up and then doesn't fire up by
attilathehun1
I got this PC to finally get going when I plugged everything back in. I
didn't even use the power button, I just plugged the power cord back into the
back panel and whammo! It started, but nothing came up on the monitor screen
and the power supply fan didn't turn, and yes I did plug the little 3...

New Antivirus Program by
Dan
I currently dual-boot with 98 Second Edition and Windows XP Professional. I
use AVG and I have discovered that AVG 8 will not support Windows 98 SE and
support for AVG 7.5 is currently slated to end at the end of May. Can
someone suggest a good antivirus program that works with Windows 98 SE...

PC not firing up by
attilathehun1
I'm thinking now, to buy a new mobo/CPU combo from newegg.com. I think I
can get one for under 60 bucks. It looks like I might have messed up this old
mobo with ESD. I do have the wrist strap to prevent ESD, but usually I just
touch the power supply every so often when I'm working on a PC. This...

too much memory? by
C.D. Koger
To improve the sluggishness of WinXP I bought an AMD Athlon dual core
machine with 2 Gb RAM and 512 Mb video and wanted to install a 98SE/XP dual
boot system.
1th disappointment: swapping drives C and D isn't offered by the Award BIOS
anymore, so I'll need a boot manager (I thought). But soon a new...

formatting hard drive by
attilathehun1
I formatted my slave hard drive and did a quick format (erase), instead of a
complete format. I wanted to put another operating system on the hard drive
and now I'm having problems loading it up. It says: Invalid system disk,
replace the disk and press any key. I tried to get into BIOS but this...

Starting your PC without the front panel power button by
attilathehun1
I'd like to know how to start up my PC without the front panel power button
assembly because my PC won't start or fire up. Nothing happens when I hit the
power button. The power supply works, so I figure it might be the power
button assembly that's the problem. I'm using a process of elimination...

I bet you can't fix my DVD drive problem by
[email protected]
I recently got a DVD/CD drive that worked perfectly fine... for a
while. I used it for some time and then one night we rented a movie
(Finding Neverland) and watched it on our TV's DVD player. After
watching it my sister came home and wanted to see it so my mom stuck
it in again, but this time it...

Free Registry Cleaner Download Review by

The registry is a very sensitive component of the windows operating

WAV files needed by
Bryan[_3_]
I'm looking for a complete set of the system sound files that came
with Windows 98 (startup, shutdown, etc.) I know this a tall order,
but would anyone mind emailing these WAV files to me? It's easy
enough to do. The files can be found in the control panel sounds.
Just copy and paste them to a...

Starting up your PC by
attilathehun1
I'm having problems starting up my PC at all. I think a wire is loose on the
power button assembly. The power supply works, because I tried on another PC
and it booted up. Isn't there a way to start your PC by touching 2 points on
the motherboard? I took a PC class a while back and my teacher...

undeletable desktop icon? by
none[_2_]
Just installed IBM's bluetooth stack on a laptop. Was sooo glad!
Started to do the traditional 'cleanup' of an install and found the 'My
Bluetooth Places' icon on the desktop will not allow me to delete it.
Tweakui does not show it on the 'desktop' tab for icons. I figure it must be
a registry...
