Unable to delete files or format hard drive by
dcgapg
Anytime I delete a file from my slave hard drive it
doesn't get deleted. Also if I format the hard drive,
either through Windows or in DOS it doesn't erase the
information on the hard drive. Right now on the drive it
has a capacity of 7.82GB, 703mb used and 7.13GB free but
the problem is it's a...

Hard drive by
Nick
I bought a used laptop with Windows 98 installed and am
having problems. The hard drive shows up as an icon, but
looks to be covered in snow? I'm assuming this means
there is a problem.
I save things to the hard drive and they are there, but
when I turn the computer off, the files are gone when...

5.5 inch floppy disks by
jdriscol
We have stacks of old 5.5 inch floppy disks. I have put a 5.5 drive into a
win 98 computer, but it doesn't detect it and I have no idea what brand it
is. Is there a way to get the drive to read the files enough to transfer
them to the hard drive and/or CD writer?

Virtual Device Drivers by
Adrienne
Two Mircsosoft virtual drivers -- netbeui.vxd and wsipx.vxd are installed on
my hard drive. Someone in the building is using NetBIOs to hack into my
computers' network. My firewall (eTrust Firewall) caught it and all I had to
do was check "YES" to prevent future attempts. However, these files are...

deleting folder on backup D drive(CPQDRV) by
leowomn
I royally messed up my Works2000 and cannot remove nor reinstall it, and
cannot install a new Works program because it detects the old one. Can I
delete the folder from CPQDRV without messing up anything else and would this
remove all traces of Works2000?

I am running win 98/2nd edition. It seems to me I used to be able to right
click on my desktop or in a folder and have an option to create a new folder.
Now it's gone! I can't create any new folders. What have I done? How can I
undo it? I searched, but I only found one related post, and it was...

my start-up disk and got Windows to load but it would not recognize the C:

How do you know if your harddrive is done??? by

I've been doing some trading between two computers. One
has a P1 and the other is P3 so I wanted all the best
stuff on the P3. So I put the 80G HD and the CD-RW drive
into the P3. I also bought a router to put internet on
the two computers. Now the P1 has the 15G that came out
of the P3. When ...

My drive is 80gb. I've used 30gb. Windows tells me I have 700mb free by
Arthur
Yep, that's right. I've added up every single file and
folder on this 80gb drive (effectively 74.5gb), and it
comes to 28.9gb. I checked that total many times.
And Windows (and Norton) tells me I've used 73.8gb and
have only 721mb free. So Windows won't let me transfer
any data to this drive--I...
