Restore Previous Folder Windows at logon by
John
Is there a way to disable "Restore Previous Folder Windows at logon" in
Windows 98?
I looked in Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, under View tab, but I don't see
a way to turn it off.
Could I turn it off in the registry?

Ron May and ACF by

I read the thread in this groupe informative begun the 9 of September
by Ron May of alt.comp.freeware (ACF) on falsifications and

After shifting my two PC's with Win XP SP3 Home Edition to an office nearby,
I am left with a HP Pavilion pre-loaded with Win 98SE. I formatted the hard
disk and reinstalled the OS using the Recovery CD. With assistance from
Robear Dyer, I managed to upgrade I.E. from 5.0 to 6.0!
I have a...

How to fix the bootup screen logo after running setup by
SlickRCBD[_3_]
As mentioned in the MPW98.disks.general, I just replaced the HD in my
old 98 machine. However, in spite of formatting it with the /s swtich,
XCOPYing everything, and doing sys D: for good measure, I couldn't get
the comptuer to boot.
Not having a CD for this OEM install, I went to...

comp keeps timing out. by

Hello,
Have encountered a problem that has been happening for the last month. \
(Win98SE, Dun,)
Problem is my connection seems to time-out after about 10 minutes of
non-use. It is okay if it is being used.
Spent the last week trouble-shooting, including an absolute confirmation
from my Isp that...

Nuking Xp and 98SE from a machine by

Hello,
I have a secondary machine, of which I have sort of been trying to build
in readiness for when this one fails.
It has XP and 98SE on it, but is having problems already, things I am
just not ready to address, and am simply not interested in as they are
'merry-go-round' things in a...

compare file utility by
[email protected]
I'm looking for a compare program similar to Win FC. The program must
return an ERRORLEVEL at the end.
Win 98 FC doesn't do that.
An old utility named COMPARE.EXE does but it doesn't recognize
long-file-names.
This will be used on Win 98 and earlier.

Thank you to the person who recommended using Opera 9.64 on my Win98

now running WinXP. Plus, and for me this is a big plus, Opera saves
