Modem busy signal by
Thomas Callaghan[_2_]
When dialing my ISP. the OEM modem installed on Dell with Win 98 results in
busy signal each time I call. ISP support could not resolve the problem. All

Win98SE Format by
David
I am about to format my OS drive after many years. Can anyone direct me to
a document which will instruct me how to save favorites, address book, emails
etc.
I have most apps/drivers saved, but am bound to forget something!

WinZip 8.0 running v. slowly by
Angus Rodgers[_2_]
I last installed Win98SE a little over three years ago, and a
number of niggles have developed. I'm still putting off that
evil day when I have to completely reinstall Win98SE and start
to dual-boot with Ubuntu Linux, which will probably be my next
main OS.
Meanwhile, it would help quite a lot if...

Printers absent from Device Manager by
Don Phillipson[_5_]
This Win98SE PC has two printers:
Brother Laser connected LPT (default) -- no problems
Brother Inkjet (multifunction) connected USB(v.2) -- too slow.
I suspect the Inkjet prints slowly because of standard
installation including Brother bundled software (mainly
for scanner) which I do not use and...

Hello, this is a bit of an unusual question but this was the most relevant
forum I could find to ask it...
I'm trying to find out who the original composer for the Windows 98 welcome
song is. Please realize I don't mean the "Microsoft Sound". The song is
called WELCOM98.wav and begins with a...

How to move "My Documents" folder back? by
Robert Macy
Used to be right up under "My Computer" now noticed it's down under
the C:\ drive
very unhandy to have it there.
How to put it back?
Tried using Windows Explorer, but that doesn't 'move' it.

[OT] Another "niggle" vanquished by
Angus Rodgers[_2_]
No reply is needed to this. It is just a partial followup to
the long thread I started, "WinZip 8.0 running v. slowly". In
that thread, I mentioned a large number of "niggles" which had
developed, over a long period (but especially in the last few
months), in my Win98SE installation (dating from...
