Hotfixes and Updates for Me by Justin Thyme[_3_]
I have a six-year-old Dell with Windows Me that I would like to give to a friend or close acquaintance, but first I want to remove personal stuff like letters (no porn, nothing that shouldn't be seen by anybody, but of no business to others). I understand that the Format command will accomplish...

power-down stuck in "re-boot"... by Paul[_2_]
hello, trying to offer some long distance help to a friend who's running ME on a P3-450. He may have inadvertently caused this problem from a windows tweak, but his computer now does not do an auto shut-down from the "start" menu, as it did before, but simply re-boots. Is there is a windows...

Religious Nutcase on the loose! by John John
I see that we have a religious nut on the loose. Posting under the name of others to proselytize and foist their religious beliefs onto others. I hope Microsoft clears the crap off the servers and bans them from posting here forever. John

System Restore has a CreateRestore option? by Bob[_3_]
I ask (again) because, IMHO, it doesn't make good sense for it not to and Andy Rathbone, in his books Windows Me for Dummies, describes System Restore as having a CreateRestore point as well as an option to select a prior creation. Our WinME computer, working pretty well for eight years now, has...

OT--ever heard of this???? by Heirloom[_3_]
http://axisaccess.com/?dl=1 Since this should work with Me, I'll post here. Has anyone ever heard of this or tried it?? One would probably have to have broadband to get it, but, to me, it is one of those 'too good to be true' things. Heirloom, old and very unsure

New Computer, ME incompatable, XP is only upgrade by Chronus

Registry Defragmenters by O.J. Newman
Hello: There have been a few threads recently on the use of registry cleaners. While some people like them and have not had any bad experiences with them, the consensus seems to be that such tools should be avoided by inexperienced users. I have also seen registry defragmenter utilities...

The Problems of Registry Cleaners by O.J. Newman
Hello: As was discussed in a recent thread here, registry cleaners can do more harm than good. There are 2 recent articles on this topic in the Usenet group "microsoft.public.windowsxp.general" , under the thread subjects of "Which Registry Cleaner" and "reg cleaners". Both reflected the...

Transformation of files by webster72n
At one time or another some data files in my documents folder were 'converted' from their 'original' status to individual JPEG and GIF images and JScript Files, which I would have to 'find an association for'. I am using FoxitReader and AdobeAcrobat 6 interchangeably, could that have caused it? If...

Problem reinstalling winME by mm
Is there something about installing winME that causes it to freeze exactly 10% in to the Copy Files portion of the install. Or is it my harddrive, and what should I do about it? I banged my IBM Thjnkpad 600E laptop really hard, and winME won't start anymore, but DOS will, from a rescue disk**. ...
