Typing Text issue by
arnymars
When I type an e-mail message or text in a webpage text area, or even a text
document in Notepad or another Text Editor, the cursor jumps time to time to
different places around the text, so I need to return it to the text end
every time. May it be Laptop Trackpad related or Win settings? What...

Video adaptor driver by
Paradoxdb3
Just the other day, I got a "new" computer from work. It's a Compaq Deskpro
EN. The case is of the small type...I believe it's called small form factor?
Anyway, I took the HDD and CD burner out of my old IBM PL300 and installed
them in the newer computer case. It took a while to get the...

Is this a drivers or Win 98 updates problem? Thanks. by
kplumm
I re-installed Windows 98 on a Packard Bell machine recently but it's
not running as modern-looking as it was. I'm a bit naive about this
subject - the fresh install has got rid of other problems, e.g.
windows Protection Errors, but do I now need to find drivers (and if
so, for what - monitor,...

Is batmeter.dll needed for a desktop system? by
98 Guy
I notice that batmeter.dll is a process module loaded by systray.
Does it perform any useful or needed function for a desktop system?
Tangent: Is there a list of processes that systray is configured to
load? Batmeter.dll is not mentioned anywhere in the registry.

PowerPoint viewer versions - strange file association behaviour by
Franc Zabkar
If I go to View-Folder Options-File Types in Explorer, I see an
entry for "Microsoft PowerPoint Slide Show". Under "file type details"
I have Extension PPS, Opens with PPTVIEW. Choosing Edit-Edit I see

USB driver? by
Robert Baer
I have an old system, a VIA P4PB400-FL motherboard, and have the CD
that came with it.
But that CD only has audio drivers, no USB drivers.
I do not know how that problem was initially solved ages ago.
I am trying to re-install from scratch (new, larger HD), and all
works except in the...

User Name in Dialer (Dial-Up connection) by
Brad
Hi,
I know how to change the phone number in the Dialer (dial-up internet)
via properties, but the only way I know how to change the User name in the
Dialer and have it "stick" (saved) is to actually connect to the internet.
Do you know of a way without me connecting?

Need DRIVER DETECTIVE by
[email protected]
Years ago I downloaded and installed a shareware called "Driver
Detective". Back then it was from a company called Monkeysoft.
I'm not quite sure how I got a registered version after all these
years. The version I have is 2.0.13. I just decided to upgrade the
program and was prepared to pay the...

everytime I boot up, and have to repeatedly hit CANCEL everytime I

OT, hopefully interesting by
Roger Fink
I'll be giving a couple of mp3 players as gifts for Christmas, but I want to
upgrade the firmware first, since the kids are not really into that sort of
thing. I'll be doing it from a Windows computer - does it matter that they
run Macs? Note that after they get these they may elect to download...

MSGSRV32 is Not Responding by

The last week or so my computer seems to just suddenly stop for
awhile. Sometimes as long as a minute or so. When I do CTRL ALT DEL
I get an error message saying MSGSRV32 is not Responding. If I close
it, everything works fine, except when I shutdown the computer locks
up so I have to just shut...

Are mouse/keyboard on COM1? (vjp2) by
Vasos Panagiotopoulos
On a 1995 GW2K p5-75, I had the modem on COM4 for ten years, I never
really used the other comm ports. I somehow had the impression the ps/
2 were COM1. (Doesn't make total sence, I know) I think I only could
find the COM2 connection, that's why I thought this.
Ok, why now? Because I realised the...

Installers
Each device within the wireless network (computer, printers,

The NIC transmits wireless signals from the access device and enables
each device in the network to send and receive signals.
