Windows update stalls on 98SE by

1. To assure a clean, troublefree install of anything (including Windows
Updates), your anti-virus application should be disabled and all other
running processes closed (e.g., IE, mail client, Office) before beginning
the install. See if temporarily disabling...

IE6.0 SP1- KB896727 & IPF in Module Explorer.exe?? by

Is it just a coincidence....?
First got "can't find shlwapi.dll" after rebooting when update KB896727 was
installed. This dll was no longer present in system folder. Making the
unbootable drive a slave....was able to copy said dll into system folder.

Repost: unzipped folder won't show up until manual refresh by
bswarm
When I extract a zipped folder into the same folder, it will not show up
until a manual refresh (right click,refresh) is done. If I open explorer and
drill down to the same folder, it is there, even though the open folder
where it should be still doesn't show it.
This problem does not exist...

clean the same, But in the process - i had to delete a few registry entries
too. afte that exercise - I am unable to set desktop wallpaper - i.e after

I looked at the temp folder in my windows directory.
It seems to have lots of leftovers from old installs.
It has content IE5 under Temporay Inernet Files.
Can I delete all of the tmp files and folders.
Is there any chance that anything there is important.

reinstall my printer it will not recognize that it is hooked up to USB port

I stumbled across a range of garbage collectors aimed at freeing up
RAM with some favorable comments by users. I am surprised that Win98
needs improvement here as it would surely get very slow if the HD had
to be used exclusively as RAM until something freed up the RAM, ie if
