Cannot access hard drive on laptop by

A coworker was messing around with his laptop yesterday (he thinks BIOS
settings) and now can no longer boot WIN98 from his hard drive. When we use
an external floppy (IBM ThinkPad 310ED - because there isn't one on board)
and a WIN98 boot floppy, we can't get to drive C. I can get to D - CDROM,...

I have just reinstalled everything, with reformatting C: and reinstalling
Win98 SE and the usual applications. I have a floppy drive A: and a Zip
drive, D:. Now when I go to Accessories/System Tools/ Backup, I am told that
there is no backup device installed and if I continue, it doesn't show...

Defrag not working by

When I try and do a defrag, after a very short time - it says: "Drive
contents changed, restarting". I tried closing down everything except
Explorer, Systray, and Defrag. So nothing's running, did a spyware scan -
cleared out the 4 tracking cookies. Still the same thing keeps happening.

support and they no longer supoort does any one else have a copy of FDisk for

it comes back with error message that the drive had errors. I've run
scandisk and it reported no errors. I've deleted the applog folder. I've

drive there were ALOT more directories than I had on there and most were all
symbols like *^&$%#^% + more. I could to still access data but when I clicked
on a garbled file it said it could'nt be found. any suggestions?

Can I remove the partition from d drive and ad the volume it to c drive
without loosing my programs in the c drive? or does the c drive have to

need suggestions to read a old floppy disk by

I have some text document saved on a floppy disk during 1991-1992 time. The
disk is Memorex 2S/2D 3.5". The format of the disk is unknown. It could be
an old Macintosh format.
Is there a way to read the disk from current PC with system windows 98, ME,
etc?

drive, Disk Defragmenter gets hung up on "Checking disk for errors 0%".

i copied some files needed (from my windows XP laptop for a friend who uses
windows 98) onto a CD-RW cd. when i tried to use the cd in the windows 98
computer, the cd was not recognised and came up with an error message
D:\ is not accessible.

is set-up as Master = CD-Rom

USB drive only showup if plugged in & reboot by

My Lexar Jumpdrive (USB drive) only showup under Windows Explorer or in "MY
COMPUTER" as removal drive if and only if I plug it in the USB port and
re-boot the system. I have installed the drivers provided for my WIN98SE
machine and have the setting in Device manager to show this as removal...
