smith
98 Opera Users considering an upgrade should note the posts and
problems at http://my.opera.com/community/forums/forum.dml?id=26

Slow Down the CPU Speed by
Brad
Hi,
I have two WinBook XL2 laptops with Windows 98se. Most of the time, I use
them off line (off the Web) and I don't need the CPU running at full speed
(400Mhz). The problem is the noisy fan that cools the CPU. This fan is not
defective since it is noisy on both laptops and it runs...

Today I deleted a collection of old flagged "corrupted files" folder after
checking these files at all those lovely websites like VirusTotal etc..
Since this was on the desktop before deletion, a hole in the icon set was
present and I rearranged them by type. Suddenly, a folder pops up in the
place...

After I successfully plugged a new KB into 1 of 2 USB ports on the rear
panel, (initially I thought there was only one) I was looking at some cheap
printer/scanners etc for $69. But like
all peripherals these days they are USB. I...

Slightly OT - W98 or NT? by
Peter in New Zealand
My apologies for the OT post, but I am curious to ask an opinion on
this. The machine I have originally came with your choice of 98 or NT4
on it. I have 98SE running pretty well thanks to the support and
experience of this group. A friend of mine has a full install CD for NT4
Workstation he...

Display colors by

Used computer, W98
A CRT-type monitor that came with it showed pink background color in
desktop, screens, etc. I needed to quickly compare another monitor so did
not go into W98 Display Properties to reset colors to my preference.
But when I connected my usual monitor to this (new) computer, it...

Backup software--like GHOST by
William B. Lurie
Good friend of mine got GHOST 9 and then found
out it isn't for WIN 98. He got GHOST 2003
with it, that is for 98. But I recall seeing
suggested here, other drive imaging and restoring
packages that people find preferable to the Norton/
Symantec stuff. Could I have a few suggestions?

New k/board has an USB plug by
Jason James
I've had my win98se PC since 1999. Its running 85% free resources atm. I've
finally had to buy another k/board which has a USB plug only.
There is a USB port on the rear of the PC and mention of a heap of USB files
after doing a "search for files".
My question is: can I simply remove the existing...
