Copying from a CD causes BDOD by
ms
Dell Dimension L700 CXE
This used to happen in ME, caused my move (format, clean install) to
W98SE.
It has cold boot frequently, clean all temp files at every shutdown, 128

When I first loaded W98SE 6 months ago, no problem copying files from a...

Direct X update - should I install it. by
Wandering
I just downloaded the large update to Direct X from the MS Download
site. Now I am wondering if it is a good idea to install it?
I am running Win98SE and I am happy as a clam with it now. About the
only time it ever crashes it has something to do with IE6. Beyond that
it seems nearly bulletproof....

Partition Magic Question by
Scott
I got a hold of Partition Magic Verson 2.0. I'd like to move the
partitions on my Win98 First Edition machine. This version must
be installed from DOS, which i know how to do. But I'm wondering if
it would be safer to use a newer version of Partition Magic, which I
assume would be installed in...

Rundll32 error by
Patch
My Wife's Win98 computer is giving me fits. In every session the error pops
up "Rundll32 caused an invalid page fault in module kernel32" I've run
"Regiclean" and "Easy clean", defragged and scandisk all to no avail. Does
anyone have a suggestion what I might try next?

No icons, start menu, etc after logon. by
Flower
My son was given a computer a few weeks ago, with windows 98. It worked for
about a week, but now when we start it up, it seems to load ok until just
after the login, then the desktop will load but no icons or taskbar or
anything will load. Is this something fixable by a non computer export?...

I recently installed win98se using 98lite, and I have been experimenting with
the shell swap feature. After using both the Micro and Chubby versions for
awhile, the only thing I really miss from the win98 shell, which doesn't work
under the win95 shell, is when clicking a maximized app's taskbar...

My Sincere Apologies by
Lillian
To all that I may have offended.
I am truely sorry about my rude behavior in posting a question to "98 Guy"
directly. I just started using this site and as I was browsing around I did
notice that some questions were directed to "98 Guy", I truly did not think I
was doing anything wrong. ...

Data Recovery shareware wanted by
Alan
I know that "Ontrack" puts out data recovery software (that comes with a
price naturally). Their "free" download only identifies recoverable files,
it won't restore them. Does anyone know where I can get a full-function
(identifies and restores)program "free" ? I realize this is a lot to hope...
