7-Zip by
Angus Rodgers[_2_]
As far as I can tell from doing a few experiments with 7-Zip,
reading the documentation that comes with it, and browsing a
few pages of the 7-Zip Support forum at SourceForge, 7-Zip
entirely lacks an absolutely basic feature of WinZip, which
is essential for saving and restoring complex structures...

In sooo many posts that aggravated dear terhune, he made it more than
clear that he wasnt interested in christ, and was not fussed about god;
just wondering what his last words on earth were?
also wondering if his missus used a priest (emissary of god) to say
stuff over his burial? (as if thats...

To play DVDs by
Don Phillipson[_5_]
Any chance of configuring Win Media Player v.9 to play
DVDs under Win98? MS web site information seems
narrowly focussed on v.11 and I doubt that runs under
Win98.
(WinDVD v.4 used to run OK, supplied free with Chaintech
software for Envy modem card: but will no longer run or

WinZip 8.0 running v. slowly by
Angus Rodgers[_2_]
I last installed Win98SE a little over three years ago, and a
number of niggles have developed. I'm still putting off that
evil day when I have to completely reinstall Win98SE and start
to dual-boot with Ubuntu Linux, which will probably be my next
main OS.
Meanwhile, it would help quite a lot if...

Do you recommend Registry Easy? by
Jack[_3_]
I experienced a Script Error on my email. In trying to find out about
the problem I came across Registry Easy. I did the free scan and it
found about 800 problems. However it cost $35 to buy the software.
Does anyone have any experience with this software and is it worth the
price? Thanks

Best way to reset archive bit in all files by
Bill Snow
The Backup My PC 5 does not reset the archive bits when performing a
Disaster Recovery backup. Thereafter to do incremental backups the archive
bit needs to be reset. Including Hidden and System bits.
Does anyone know a good way to do this?
Thanks,
Bill Snow

If Win98 goes away, how about Linux? Which one? by

What's with the plethora of choices of Linux Operating Systems?
What to look for? How to choose? What criteria?
Does anybody have any well-based opinions on which one, or the way to
choose?
Plus, Don't know why but couldn't even find a list of usenet groups,
or dedicated groups, for the various...

Is there a Quicktime that works on Win98? by
Robert Macy
I went to a website that said you have to download some plug-in to
view this video.
Ok, I went to the website and it came up with 'free' Quicktime for
WinXP, Vista, and Windows 7.
I'll bet it's over 3 times the size of Quciktime that ran on Win98
, so where can I find Quicktime that
runs on Win98?
