Antivirus for win98 by
SlickRCBD[_4_]
I needed to restore a backup on my windows 98 system, and the backup
was still using AVG free. Needless to say that isn't a good choice
anymore.
Can somebody please recommend a free antivirus scanner for Windows 98?
I can't seem to find an installer for Avast that will work.
If there is such an...

Daylight Saving Time Adjustment by
ms
Back in 2007, when Gary Terhune was active here, I installed the
"Grystmill Unofficial Time Zones Update" for W98. At the time it seemed OK,
but I've noticed, and particularly this recent DST adjustment, I have to
adjust the time manually, and no longer on cold boot get the usual windows...

Lexar USB Flash ("Jump") Drives and Windows 98 by
[email protected]
Hi,
I posted this (below) last year in Sept. I thought perhaps it can help
someone who also uses Lexar "Jump" drives. Note: I did not buy
another Lexar "Jump" drive after I posted this:
I am a very active user of Windows 98se, and Lexar's "Jump" USB
flash drives.
Lexar's web...

Missing System Tools folder by
ms
I wanted to run System File Checker, read that it is in System Tools.
I just looked in Accessories, there is no System Tools folder! ??
I just used Scanreg/restore, the oldest registry is only a few days
old. And nothing has happened on this machine in the past week, so I
believe the Tools...

FAT32 vs NTFS, Overwritting a Deleted File by
[email protected]
Hi,
I know about FAT32, but I know little about NTFS. Assuming both
hard drives are not "fragmented". If a large (200MB) file is deleted, is it
more likely to be overwritten (space it occupied on the hard disk is
overwritten) on a FAT32 hard disk compared to a NTFS?
Thank You...

Scanning of A drive by
ms
I have used a windows shell, 2XExplorer on computers for years. The problem
below is only with one machine, so it is IMO in windows, not the shell
program.
Only on this machine, every time I click on the desktop icon for it, or
since it starts with windows, each time the screen opens, the A...
