Dan
As dumb as it gets!
Win98....I have 2 files ios.vxd and ifsmgr.vxd in the Recycle Bin. The
system won't boot without these files in Normal or Safe mode. Scanreg.exe
does not restore or fix these files. Unfortunatelly, the laptop only has

If there is any way, anyone can...

Magic

partiton

but I need to grab a few files from it. Everytime I try to boot, it drops
into Registry Checker, tells me a good registry has been restored, and asks

Hi,
I recently got a new XP, and bought the network equipment to go with it...
My old 98 (which I am now going to give to my brother) worked OK. I
networked them, then transferred all my old files into the new computer.

Missing files by
[email protected]
I went to try connecting to a network and found that, according to
Microsoft's own list, quite a few files are missing from my W98SE CD.
Yes, it's a Microsoft disk with the product key and all.
Any suggestions what I can do about this?

Windows finds, then loses, sound cards by
[email protected]
Hello,
I have a problem that I haven't seen here yet, although I expect it is
here somewhere.
I have a desktop PC, 350 MHz, running Win98SE.
One day it "lost" the sound card. I re-installed it, and went through
all the steps of installing drivers. Windows said it was installed
correctly.
