Network problem by
TonyB
I have the simple p2p network setup via a router...wired for now. One
computer sees the other, but the other says its after logging off (
which I never had to do previously ) that it cannot reconnect network
to other drives. Click My computer to see the status. What status? It
just shows itself. I...

Locked down 98 by
Chuck
I'm trying to maintain an old 64MB system. It seems to be locked out of
Admin. mode. I make changes, reboot, and it's back the way it was.
Is there a file or a setting that could do this?
Thanks,
Chuck

98SE on steroids! by
USR
I'm running an Athlon 64 3200 Venice clocked at 9x270 = 2430Ghz on an ASUS
A8V Deluxe. Also using DualChannel Kingston HyperX 2x512MB low latency
PC3200 RAM. Man does this system smoke!
Anyone else out there got a faster setup for 98SE?

Ronjay
My computer has been restarting once each boot-up, and then randomly restarts
approximately once an hour, without any apparent precipitatng cause.
It may restart when the computer is sitting or when I close a page or start
a program, or it may happen while I'm typing this message. It always...

Poor WIN98 performance by

Hi the I use Win98SE on a Intel i810-based desktop with a 600MHz celeron
and integrated intel graphics. I recently did a clean install of WINXP, but
performance was unacceptable (interesting, I ran WINXP on this a couple of
years ago on this computer and it was fine). So I did a clean install...

Processor Usage by
Endulini
Hi,
I monitored the Swap file usage as suggested and it does indeed regularly
top 20 MB, in fact it often max's out at around 50MB. One thing I noticed
whilst doing this was that my processor frequently hits 100% - and not
necessarily when the swap file peaks. Is something that can be improved...

Kay
My computer tells me it can not find "winword.exe". It has only happened a
couple times, but now it is preventing my daughter from working on an online
class. I have Windows 98 and I have tried to search for the file and I can't
find it either.
What does winword.exe start? My wordpad works fine....
