You haven't been precise in your report. Did something go wrong with the
procedure, or did the procedure work-- but the problem remains?
Anyway...
"START, Find, F/F, WINDOWS.CHM". R-Clk it, & select Properties. Does it
look like this (Win98SE)...

When I turn on my pc, evrything loads up ok, but the last

Browsers Crashing Win98SE by
gpp
Thanks for all your suggestions. I've since narrowed the problem down
to a Java corruption/conflict. There were 2 Java plugin icons in
Control Panel, I found a disable button on the older one and updated the
newer one to version 1.4.0_01. Now IE seems stable but Netscape is
still a bit flaky....

Scandisk by
Donald McCann
I clone a 4.3G to a 40G HD and yes scandisk could not see/read the new 40G hard drive. Did you clone your new disk? If so, it is the cluster sizes that are messing you up. FDisk, Reformat and Reinstall is the only way that I found to work for me. Hope this helps.

not enough disc space by
ppoatt
Try a thorough Scandisk.
DO NOT have the Repair Automatically line checked.
It is best to see the report before repairing any bad
sectors on the HD.
"not enough disk space report" could mean there is a bad
sector on the HD that the OS can't read beyond.
Is "Sage" a game?
Are you installing it to...

System File Checker cannot check the following folder: by
PCR
I really don't know. But, taking the message at it's word, perhaps it is
a job for Scandisk. I must warn that Scandisk may not do a great job
when there is a great one to do...
http://cquirke.mvps.org/9x/scandisk.htm
Therefore, perhaps UNcheck "Automatically fix errors" on it's front
screen. It...
